Kota Dine & Coffee - when Francis meets rempah, Penang

Hello everyone, sorry for the delay. A last few week during my day off we went out for a cafe hunt. Once again I want to thank Penangfoodie.com for the information about some of the cafe in Penang. This cafe have been listed as a 1# on the top 22 most instagrammable cafe in Penang and I have to admit it was very instagrammable indeed.

So without further ado lets get with this Cafe which is called Kota Dine & Coffee - when Francis meets rempah. This place is located inside the majestic colonial building called the Fort cornwallis. The entrance fee for foreigner will be RM20.00 per person and RM10.00 per person for MYcard/MM2H Holder. This fees will be deducted as long as you spend more than RM20 in one bill (Depends on how many pax, let say that you have 3 person on your group than you have to spend more than RM30 in one single bill) Prices may seem to be on the higher side but it was worth every penny. As an aside you can always wander around the fort at any time like we did.

So after you have paid the entrance fees you just go up in front and just after you walk from the entrance gate the cafe is just down the right side. We went inside the cafe and been greeted warmly from the staff. We or should I say I always choose a table that had a lots of natural lighting so I can take a beautiful picture (I think). This Cafe has a modern-industrial chic sort of theme and a comfortable temperature (not too cold nor too hot), we seat inside just in case you are wondering.

We started with the drinks first, I ordered their ice-blended Cendol and my friend had a Hot Ginger tea and it was a very novel and delicious drinks. Super refreshing.

For the food we've ordered their Jumbo platter that consisted of pai tee cup, chicken lollipop, chinese bun, char siew, tandoori and kerabu. This dish is a gastronomic variety of local savories. Second dish was a Nyonya dish. It consisted of rendang ,butterfly pea flower, a fragrant coconut rice, achar and otak-otak. The third dish will be the chicken satay. We both loved this dish. The chicken was very tender, juicy and fresh with the combo of the spices, peanut and a hint of lemongrass and ginger; it was mouthwatering. We call their dishes as a modern twist of Malaysian cuisine. You can taste every local flavour in a single course.

A compliment to the chef for the lovely food. We are impressed with the food presentation as well very artsy so we felt we were literally eating a piece of art. We enjoyed everything that we ordered and it did make sure that our tummies were full. We fully recommend this place for those who loves Asian fusion.
